Beta’s Matteo Cavallo created his own piece of history at round five of the Italian Enduro Championship by becoming the first Junior ride to win a race outright.
Making a serious statement, Cavallo beat a field full of world champions like Matt Phillips, Alex Salvini, Steve Holcombe and Giacomo Redondi to secure the top step of the podium in Italy.

With the single day round held in Viverone, the mixture of cross, enduro and extreme tests played into Cavallo’s favour.

From the off the Junior class ride was in the hunt by taking the opening special test win. Overcoming a couple of rocky rides during the day, Cavallo managed to win another three tests to top the classification at the end of the day by almost 10 seconds.

Plying the pressure throughout the day, Beta’s Salvini pushed Cavallo hard but was unable to see it through and had to settle for the runner-up result, while also topping the Enduro 1 category.

Third and three seconds behind Savlini, Honda’s Giacomo Redondi completed the top three.

Fourth overall, Sherco’s Matt Phillips also won the Foreigners category.

Rounding out the top five, Honda’s Davide Guarneri was fifth and top Enduro 1 rider.

The Italian Enduro Championship continues on June 3/4.
